What's In Season

Apple harvest is going well. Many areas of Iowa had good fruit set, but some places are more sparse than usual. Apples in non-irrigated areas may be smaller. Strong pumpkin crop. Sweet corn is mostly done. Raspberries are showing up at markets. Aronia berries may be small and lower yield this year due to dry conditions.

Pumpkins and zucchini are doing well but may have some sunspots or yellow spots from stink bug damage. Onions and potatoes are doing well. Winter squash is coming on. Mums will likely be available in another week or two. Grapes may have a compressed harvest cycle this year. Apples appear to be maturing early.
